New Deal Painting Recovered

The GSA Inspector General's Office, in conjunction with the GSA Fine Arts Program, has recovered a Works Progress Administration (WPA) watercolor painting by artist, John Holland. The painting, Trees, Golden Gate Park, had been in the possession of a private citizen, who upon researching information to sell it, came across the WPA joint recovery program and arranged for the painting's return to federal care and custody. The piece is valued at $1,200 and carries significant historical value.
