GSA OIG was notified by GSA’s Fleet Services Division in September 2014 that a government vehicle had been in an accident and sent to a New Jersey based auto body shop for repairs. GSA had paid over $9,000 for repairs in December 2013, but the vehicle had not been repaired. Local prosecutors brought criminal charges against the owner of the body shop. Subsequently, the owner negotiated with GSA for a reduced settlement of $7,761.31, and all criminal charges were dismissed.
